Festive Fun in ATX: Your Ultimate Guide to Holiday Cheer

Ornaments of The Nutcracker

Austin has so much to offer during the holiday season. Whether you're into ice skating with a view, stunning light displays, or classic performances, there's no shortage of festive cheer. Here are some of my favorite holiday activities in ATX.

1. Ice Skating at the Long Center

This is my favorite holiday activity in Austin! Ice skating at the Long Center is such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit. For just around $18, you can skate with an incredible view of the Austin skyline. Plus, they’ve got rentals, so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own skates.

2. The Nutcracker at the Palmer Event Center

No holiday season would be complete without The Nutcracker. Austin Ballet’s performance at the Palmer Event Center. Whether you’re an avid ballet fan or just love a good holiday tradition, this show is a perfect way to experience some holiday magic. Tickets range from $20 to $125, depending on your seat choice.

3. Mozart’s Holiday Light Show

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters on Lake Austin is a local gem, and during the holidays, it transforms into a winter wonderland. Their light show is one of the most loved holiday traditions in Austin. It’s a great spot for families, a date night, or just to soak in the holiday magic. General admission is around $7, and they have treats like hot cocoa and even Donut Boats for extra fun!

4. Austin Trail of Lights

The Austin Trail of Lights at Zilker Park is a huge highlight of the holiday season. Over 2 million lights illuminate the park. The best part? There are several nights when entry is free, so you can enjoy the lights without spending a dime.

5. See the Lights on West 37th Street

For a classic neighborhood light display, head to West 37th Street in the Rosedale neighborhood. This street has become famous for its over-the-top holiday light displays. Each year, residents go all out, decking their homes with thousands of lights and creative decorations. It’s a fun spot to walk or drive through, and it really captures the local holiday spirit.
